About the Author

Corynne Jaffeux has thesis in currency risks (1985) and management sciences (1990). She has lectured at Paris I Panth�on-Sorbonne and became professor at Orl�ans University in 1991. Since 1999 she has been professor at the Montesquieu Bordeaux University, where her research areas include financial markets, corporate finance and securities.

Philippe Wieser studied mechanical engineering at the EPFL, where he received his undergraduate (1977) and Ph.D (1981) degrees. After a few years working in an engineering consulting company, he joined the EPFL as lecturer. His fields of research and teaching deal with logistics and information systems, integrated logistics, supply chain optimization and health logistics. Since May 2000, Professor Wieser is the executive director of the International Institute for the Management of Logistics, involving the EPFL (Lausanne) and ENPC (Paris).

I have not gone through the entire book yet but I feel this is a great book for the beginner and most up-to-date with the current version of Unity (5.5) at this time (Feb 2017). The information I got from the book not only brought me up to speed with my own Unity skills but also pointed me towards some great resources that can be used with my students who are learning Unity development. I am considering having students purchase their own copy next school year to use as a textbook. On a related note, I had never heard of the author or his team website before getting the book but the free C# tutorials on their site have been insanely useful for getting my artistic-focused, non-programming minded, students up-to-pace before I let them create games. Very helpful!

I bought the ebook when it first came out. It's a wonderful book to learn Unity and C#. The ebook was nice, but I thought when I bought it I wish there were a physical book. I prefer physical books to ebooks as, even though I'm in my 30's, I'm old school and like the feel of physical pages.

Anyway, I had been using Unity since late 2015, so some of this book was review for me. However, I've learned more than I've learned in a year in just a couple of months using this book. It's great, and I highly recommend it.

Hot, Sexy and Smooth

I really enjoyed this book and I like the fact that the author(s) did not try and "romance" up the sex scenes, but gave what I thought was a very realistic earthy and HOT description of events. I do like sex in my books and this one hit the top five of favorites. I do not like descriptions of body parts of "flowers opening" and etc and luckily they did not have that here. The main characters are fun, serious, sexy and strong. The plot is easy and not convuluted so it makes for an easy enjoyable read. I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately looked to see if they published anything else on amazon and then quickly moved to finding one of the authors website. Highly recommend if you like a good story line with some amazing hot sex scenes too. Some minor BDSM and great dirty talk are included.

I enjoyed the book very much. It did not grab me from the beginning like some books do but the story unfolded nicely, if predictably, and I loved the characters. Great sex scenes, including light BDSM. The political story added something a little different, even if the closeted politician has been done in other books (and done better). All in all, an enjoyable read while I'm on vacation (beach reading).

A Sexy, Smart And Enjoyable Read From Start To Finish

"All The Pretty Things" is a brilliant novel that tells a incredibly enjoyable romance story between two characters who are not only fully realized but fun to read. The relationship development between the two leads Tess and Robin is the highlight of the story for me. Seeing the two come together and how their relationship grows throughout the course of the novel was what kept me reading and what kept me loving what I read.

While the story does move away from some plotlines it establishes early on in favor of focusing on the romantic plotline it's hard to complain because of how well that plotline is written.

The characters themselves were outstanding. Specifically the leads Tess and Robin were written skillfully enough that they both had distinct character voices and were both enjoyable. Supporting characters like Samantha were also treated with the same talent.

The story flowed very well and had top notch pacing that had me reading more in one sitting than I have in years. At times the book was impossible to put down.

Not only would I read something from the author again I would love to see these characters again and see where they go next. This book deserves it's 5 stars and it deserves your time and money.

Cambridge's target audience for its new book is "students and beginners," and this may explain why the book, unlike other single-volume music histories, is devoid of demonstrative score samples. It does not, however, explain the book's spotty approach, which may confuse those same beginners. After a brief mention of music in the ancient world, Griffiths jumps to the early Middle Ages in Europe, addressing the fundamental importance of music notation. From this point, Griffiths leads a tour through 1100 years of music-making, addressing simultaneous developments in many areas of Western culture, including politics, literature and mathematics. The effectiveness of this approach becomes questionable as the volume enters the Baroque era, when the number of composers and the variety of styles expand rapidly. Though the text is filled with Griffith's typically excellent, thought-provoking observations-he's written for The New Yorker and The New York Times-his writing from this point meanders, like a casual conversation. One can learn about trends and ground-breaking works here, but trying to get a picture of Schoenberg's career and development, for instance, is difficult. The method also leads to some chapter misnomers: the author's discussions of Verdi, Bizet and 19th-century Russian Nationalists are in the chapter, "New Germans and Old Vienna." For these reasons, the volume will be more useful to seasoned readers than to novices. A glossary is welcome and helpful, as is a list of recommended readings and recordings.

Centered on the conceptualization of time in music, Griffiths' precis traces a course of development from ancient Greece and Babylonia to the present. Western music began with single-part chants, to which multiple lines (polyphony), instruments, and rhythms were quickly introduced. Time in music changed from the even-valued pitches of chant to complex rhythmic patterns, from the unmeasured to the finely divided line. By the sixteenth century, ensembles of performers were the norm. Griffiths cites most major composers in each of the commonly accepted musical periods (baroque, classical, romantic, etc.), describing their contribution to the advancement of musical concepts and how the culture influenced their creativity, and also how composers experimented to progress from humanistic motivation to the complex use of technology to create music. Concluding with the ups and downs of the last 40 years, Griffiths suggests that to survive, music of the future will continue to depend on composition, performance, and listening. The title is accurate - this is truly a concise history of western music, particularly the music of the church. My music professor thought a few sections were a little too simplistic and was able to provide more context in those areas, but on the whole it was a really helpful book and I learned a lot about where the church has been musically through the centuries.

A compact little number, awesome for quick artistic inspiration

The Little Book of Vintage Sci-Fi is a collection 1940's and 1950's comic book covers, panels and ads assembled mostly in random fashion (with an eye toward the more amusingly salacious illustrations and dialogue) and reproduced on a miniature scale, mere inches in both width and height. If you've set foot in a bookstore, like, ever, you'll have surely spotted teensy-tiny books just like these, generally in the vicinity of the cash registers, as they are to bookstores what candy and gum are to grocery stores: cheaply-priced trifles designed to be purchased on impulse. And they're designed to fit perfectly in a typical shirt pocket.

Little if any of the material within these editions is presented in anything approaching its entirety or even in continuity (though some panels certainly are), nor is scholarly appreciation really the point beyond Tim Pilcher's brief introductions and backgrounders. The books in this series -- comprised of tiny tomes encompassing lurid, often hyperbolic material likewise culled from Horror, Sci-Fi, Combat, Romance and other comics of the golden age (much of it produced under the legendary aegis of EC Comics -- are best savored as entry-level novelty items, which is obviously the spirit in which they were produced. If you want to read complete stories, or learn the full-bodied history of this glorious period in American publishing, there are bountiful histories, biographies, trade paperback reprints, and coffee-table books that will introduce you to the form from almost every conceivable angle. These little amusements, on the other hand, are simply samplers of the era and its comic art, an era all too short-lived as the holier-than-thou Catholic Legion of Decency (sheeyeah, right!), the Comics Code Authority and their vile ilk largely succeeded in their mission to whitewash the fun out of America from the mid-1930's to the mid-1960's. Whenever someone who lived through this period laments how much "simpler" and "better" and more moral times were "back then" compared to today, you can rest assured they're remembering the rose-colored, corn-fed Andy Hardy version of America these organizations tried so desperately to make real in the face of all evidence of natural human behaviour to the contrary, and not the reality itself. Comic books like those feted in this collection were the sacrificial lambs on the altar of conservative delusion.

If you're an artist of designer of any kind (as I am), or in any way a fan of this pulpy greatness already in possession of the types of standard-size books mentioned above (as I am), then a set of these miniature quickies may still prove useful when you're looking for a quick shot of inspiration without fear of unintentionally devoting several hours to re-reading these lurid stories all over again simply because you cracked the cover of some hefty volume on your shelf and couldn't put it down.

A somewhat interesting little book on old science fiction images and a few stories.

I have been a long time fan of science fiction books, comics, toys and movies. This little book (Only 41/2 inches by 31/2 inches) has a collection of old time science fiction comic covers, stories and old toy advertisements that were popular back in the 1950s. This volume is organized into six areas. It includes the introduction, an explanation of falling frogs science fiction story, out of the unknown No. 1 creature from the crater story, Facts about that great heavenly body, The sun, Our atomic future and It's patented.

One of the things I found interesting in this little book were some of the advertisements. As a young boy I remember sending for some of these things. They include the following: Jet: Rocket Space Ship, Major Mar's Rocket Ring, The Buck Rogers Sonic Ray and The Cosmic Smoke Gun. It is too bad I did not keep those crazy things I sent for when I was a young boy. They are probably worth a fortune today.

In conclusion, if you are into old time science fiction material you may want to check this small volume out.
